How it started…

As a kid, it started with drawing and painting...then origami, dioramas, and fancy gift wrapping. When my mom bought me a sewing machine for practical purposes, I started making Halloween costumes instead.

As a child of immigrant Tigers parents, there was no way I was going to art school. Thankfully, I was able to find a major that satisfied all parties: The Product Design Engineering program that only existed at Stanford University. It was a mix of Mechanical Engineering (for my parents) and Design (for me). And that's where I discovered power tools and fell in love with creating things in 3D.

Fast forward a decade later: I am a sleep-deprived new mom who just discovered cake shows on The Food Network. It seems like a really good idea to learn how to bake, make buttercream, and use fondant all within a few days. What can go wrong?

The cake took way too long, I was more stressed and sleep-deprived, and the kitchen was a disaster. However, this experience made me realized that I was in dire need of a creative outlet.

And the obsession was born.
